Combination or Hybrid Hair Transplant (FUT+FUE)

In recent times desire of getting high density hair transplant is very common among the ones with
baldness. Most of the clients approach us with the expectation of getting maximum coverage in
higher grades of baldness. It is difficult to extract required number of grafts in people with extensive
balding either by FUT or FUE hair transplant technique alone.
Dr. Madhu has adopted a modern approach to extract more number of grafts. Combination (Hybrid) of FUT & FUE allows extraction of more number of follicular units in a single session with minimal or negligible
scarring in which extensive areas of baldness can be covered. In certain cases beard and body hair
also can be used if the patient has wide recipient area and donor area is limited. This technique is
called "COMBINATION (Hybrid) TRANSPLANT" or "HYBRID HAIR TRANSPLANTATION".
It is done under local anesthesia. The surgeon begins by performing FUE procedure. FUE is extraction
of individual follicular units from the donor area. After FUE is completed the surgeon will perform
FUT technique. In FUT a thin strip of superficial skin layer is harvested from back and sides of the
scalp based on the laxity. After FUE grafts extraction and FUT strip harvesting the follicular units are
transplanted into the recipient area.
This technique allows the surgeon to transplant a larger number of grafts in a single session which
reduces the total number of sessions required to achieve the desired result. Combination (Hybrid) of FUT &
FUE allows the surgeon to customize the hair transplant procedure according to the individual
needs. Combination (Hybrid) of FUT and FUE may not be appropriate for everyone and decision to use this
technique should be made in consultation with a qualified hair transplant surgeon.
